Hang Young Lee

Dr. Hang Young Lee is a Lecturer in Sociology at the Macquarie School of Social Sciences. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Duke University and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Social Science Research Institute, Duke University. His research areas include social inequality, social stratification, economic sociology, and social networks. His research has focused on elucidating the social processes that facilitate or constrain the social mobility of individuals, specifically the mechanism of cumulative advantage/disadvantage, whereby the advantaged remain privileged, and the disadvantaged remain underprivileged. His current research identifies wealth-poor households in Australia and examines their social, economic, and demographic characteristics in relation to income-poor households.
